BIO
I am Claudia Falquez #WeavingArtist.
Proudly Colombian, born in Pamplona.
My creative process is to contemplate,
draw, abstract, geometrize, and weave.
I do this thanks to the techniques of collage
and superimposing.
Copper wire is the conducting thread of my
work. It is part of my language. I integrate it
with natural fibres such as wool, linen, hemp,
silk, fique, and sisal.
As a Latin American artist I value that which
is traditional. I want to vindicate craftwork.
My inspiration lies in indigenous cultures.
MANIFIESTO
I believe in art,
as the engine to claim the handmade.
I believe in tapestry,
as a space for personal and cultural reunion.
I believe in art,
as a tool to enhance the legacy of my roots.
An art where I capture my inspiration
and my heart.
A legacy full of color, land and nature…
from Colombia.
Through art I lose myself, and find myself again,
knot by knot.
